Kinkos for Kids
Kinkos for Kids is a collaboration between Kinkos, Inc., and the New Albany • Plain Local School District. Located in the Library/Information Center of the New Albany school campus, the facility provides a high-tech, tool-rich environment. Creation of this facility was based on the premise that, if students were given the opportunity to use tools found in the business world, coupled with the support of knowledgeable personnel, student products would rise to a level of professionalism expected by the business community.
More than a place to make copies, Kinkos for Kids is a technological “toolbox” that contains everything needed to create a wide array of products. Students can create a tri-fold brochure, bound reports, CD-ROMs, posters, lamination, and many other products, all within the facility confines. The use of computers and the production of black and white copies are available for school purposes to the students at no charge. All other services are made available to the students at a reduced cost for maximum accessibility.
Computer services in Kinkos for Kids allow individuals to access the Internet, translate files across platforms from Mac to PC and vice versa, edit scanned or pre-existing photographic images, input images from digital cameras, edit analog and digital video, and perform basic computer operations for word processing, spreadsheet development, presentation, and database manipulation. The synergistic effect of immediate access to information and powerful tools to produce and distribute newly found knowledge raises the level of productivity for everyone who uses this facility.
